When a tooth is lost or damaged, in addition to damaging the look of your smile, it can cause difficulties with chewing and speaking. At NK Family Dental, we take great pride in providing our patients with natural-looking crowns that restore the appearance of your smile while also providing the functionality of strong, healthy teeth.
A dental crown is a tooth-shaped appliance that can be applied on top of an existing tooth that has suffered major damage or had a root canal procedure. In other cases, crowns are used on top of dental implants to replace missing teeth. Dental crowns can also be used to support a dental bridge for replacing missing teeth.
To prepare a tooth for a crown, some of the enamel will need to be removed so that the new crown can be fitted properly. Once this is complete, an impression will be made and sent to a laboratory to create your custom crown. In the meantime, you will receive a temporary restoration to protect your tooth. Once your final crown is ready, a dental adhesive will be used to apply the crown and keep it secure. We will then provide you with information on caring for your new restoration. With excellent care, your crown could last a lifetime.
